Sustainable Smart Cities

Sustainable development of urban areas is a challenge of key importance. Tomorrow’s cities are to be reshaped into a healthy and stimulating environment for citizens to live, work, commute, learn, recreate and play. This requires new, efficient, and user-friendly technologies and services, in particular in the areas of energy, transport and ICT. However, these solutions need integrated approaches, both in terms of development of advanced technological solutions as well as deployment.

Uniresearch consultants have profound knowledge of the opportunities and challenges in this field and are keen to support you in set-up and management of Smart Cities’ projects and to acquire (EU) funding in this field.

After approval of the project, Uniresearch has become responsible for the project coordination and the dissemination activitiesworks. This includes: administrative and financial aspects and preparation of meetings in collaboration with the coordinator.

"As coordinator of such a complex project as RUGGEDISED, I was well aware at the outset that we could only accept this challenge from the municipality with an agency that knew exactly which rules would apply. I was happy to work with the people from Uniresearch, who know all about it." - Albert Engels, municipality of Rotterdam."

RUGGEDISED

RUGGEDISED brings together three lighthouse cities: Rotterdam, Glasgow and Umeå and three follower cities: Brno, Gdansk and Parma to test, implement and accelerate the smart city model across Europe.

Working in partnership with businesses and research centres these six cities will demonstrate how to combine ICT, e-mobility and energy solutions to design smart, resilient cities for all. This means improving the quality of life of citizens, reducing the environmental impact of activities and creating a stimulating environment for sustainable economic development.
