Future Transport and Mobility

The major challenge in the Transport sector is the transformation towards zero emission in all possible modes of transport. Ultimately, this means vehicles, vessels and airplanes, which are either electric, hydrogen fuelled and/or the use of a biobased or renewable fuel. Other challenges are: autonomous driving and new mobility concepts.

Uniresearch consultants have profound knowledge of the opportunities and challenges in the transport and mobility domain and are keen to support you to acquire funding for research and innovation actions in e.g. the following European programs: Green Vehicle, Mobility for Growth, Fuel Cells and Hydrogen, Maritime and Infrastructures. Our services in project set-up and – management cover each development stage; from early stage research projects to demonstration projects.

BLUE NODULES

Blue Nodules is a research and innovation project to develop a deep sea mining system for the harvesting of polymetallic nodules from the sea floor with minimum environmental impact.
Uniresearch Role

Uniresearch was contracted by the initial consortium to write and compile the grant application. After approval of the Blue Nodules project, Uniresearch has been assigned the task of project management facilitator and lead the dissemination, exploitation and communication activities. This means that Uniresearch is the main partner to establish all necessary tools for communication and management.

BLUE NODULES

The Blue Nodules project will develop a new highly-automated and technologically sustainable deep sea mining system for the harvesting of polymetallic nodules from the sea floor. The key objectives of Blue Nodules are:

  1. An industrially viable business case for polymetallic nodule at water depths of 3,000 to 6,000 metres.
  2. In-situ processing (sediment separation and sizing) and onboard processing (dewatering and conditioning).
  3. Excellent intrinsically safe working conditions.
  4. Minimum environmental impact.
  5. Compliance with the relevant policies and regulations.
